Omron EE-SPX742 Photomicrosensor
Omron EE-SPX742 is a compact through-beam photomicrosensor using a fixed 3.6 mm slot for target sensing. The transmitting and receiving sections establish a modulated optical path across the gap, and interruption of this path changes the NPN switching condition. Dark-ON operation defines the output response, while the sensor operates from 5 to 24 VDC. Average current consumption is specified at 15 mA maximum and peak consumption at 50 mA maximum. The output supports up to 50 mA load current, and a special connector provides removable electrical integration. A red indicator gives visual operating feedback. The EE-SPX742 provides a compact sensing point within the 3.6 mm grooved sensor range across Omron Grooved Sensor Products.

The Omron EE-SPX742 Photomicrosensor uses a through-beam slot arrangement with a fixed 3.6 mm sensing gap. An object moving through the slot changes the optical path across the sensing position, allowing the sensor to produce its specified switching response. The unit operates from 5 to 24 VDC and provides an NPN output configured for Dark-ON operation. Average current consumption is 15 mA max., while the stated peak value is 50 mA. Its output supports a load current of up to 50 mA, with residual voltage specified at 1.0 V max. at 50 mA load current and 0.4 V max. at 10 mA. A red light indicator gives visual operating status, while the modulated optical signal supports stable slot sensing. Electrical connection is provided through a special connector.
The EE-SPX742 uses a polycarbonate case and holder and is specified for operation from -10°C to 55°C. Its stated vibration resistance is 10 to 55 Hz at 1.5 mm double amplitude for two hours in each X, Y, and Z direction, while shock resistance is 500 m/s² three times in each direction. The enclosure is rated IP50. This configuration suits compact mechanisms where an object passes through a defined 3.6 mm sensing point and an NPN Dark-ON signal is required. For another EE Series model using the same 3.6 mm slot and Dark-ON switching, see the Omron EE-SPX743.
