Omron EE-SPY401 Photomicrosensor

Omron EE-SPY401 is a horizontal reflective photomicrosensor designed for short-range target sensing at a specified 5 mm distance. Its optical arrangement directs a modulated signal toward the target and evaluates the returned light from the same sensing side. The NPN output operates in Light-ON mode, while operating power is supplied from 5 to 24 VDC. Average current consumption is specified at 15 mA maximum, with peak consumption reaching 50 mA maximum. The output supports up to 80 mA load current, and a special connector provides the electrical interface. A red indicator supplies visual operating feedback. The EE-SPY401 provides horizontal sensing within the compact reflective sensor range across Omron Reflective Sensor Products.

The Omron EE-SPY401 Photomicrosensor uses horizontal reflective sensing with a specified 5 mm sensing distance. The optical signal is directed toward the target and returned to the sensing element from the same side, providing short-range object sensing without an opposing optical component. This model operates from 5 to 24 VDC and provides an NPN output with Light-ON switching. Average current consumption is 15 mA max., with a peak value of 50 mA. The output supports a maximum load current of 80 mA, while residual voltage is specified as 1.0 V max. at 80 mA and 0.4 V max. at 10 mA. A red light indicator provides operating status, and the optical signal is modulated. Electrical connection is provided through a special connector.

The EE-SPY401 has a polycarbonate case and operates from -10°C to 55°C without freezing or condensation. Storage temperature extends from -25°C to 65°C, while operating humidity is specified from 5% to 85%. Its mechanical resistance includes vibration from 10 to 55 Hz at 1.5 mm double amplitude for two hours in each X, Y, and Z direction and shock resistance of 500 m/s² three times along each axis. The enclosure carries an IP50 rating. Its horizontal format and Light-ON NPN output suit compact layouts requiring short-range reflective sensing from the side. For the related vertical model using the same 5 mm range and Light-ON operation, see the Omron EE-SPY402.
