The Omron CP1W-40EDT PLC Expansion I/O Unit adds digital output capacity to compatible Programmable Logic Controller systems used for industrial machine control. Its output section provides 16 sinking transistor outputs, enabling controller logic to electronically switch compatible DC field devices as part of automated machine sequences. The module consumes 160 mA at 5 V and integrates with the CP1W expansion architecture when additional transistor output points are required beyond the controller's existing I/O capacity. This allows a machine control system to accommodate more output devices while retaining the same PLC platform. The CP1W-40EDT extends CP1W digital I/O capability and forms part of the sinking transistor PLC output range used with Omron machine control products.
